VC Chamber of Commerce installs 2014 Board of Directors
County Supervisor Bill Horn swore in the 2014 Board of Directors at the VC Chamber of Commerce's Installation Dinner and Dance on Jan. 25.
January 31, 2014It was a beautiful night "Under the Valley Center Stars" last Saturday as the Valley Center Chamber of Commerce hosted their 2014 Installation Dinner and Dance at the historic Melrose Ranch. The Chamber's new board of directors was installed, the small and large businesses of the year were announced, and the two citizens of the year were honored before an enthusiastic crowd.
"It was a huge success," said Mary Gordon, executive director at the Chamber.
Past President Brandon Strausbaugh kicked the evening off with a welcoming address before County Supervisor Bill Horn stepped up to swear in the 2014 Board of Directors. Assemblymember Marie Waldron then presented outgoing Treasurer Dee Chavez-Harmes with a special acknowledgement and State Assembly Certificates to the Board of Directors.
Newly-sworn-in President Greg Carlson delivered his presidential address and then the 2013 businesses of the year were announced. Secretary Jennifer Armstrong announced Bates Nut Farm as the Large Business of the Year, and Director Diane Conaway announced the Vineyard Wines and Tastes as the Small Business of the Year.
The two 2013 citizens of the year, Martina Day and Frank Holtz, were presented by Amy Archipov and Allie McCall, respectively. Finally, Vice President Stuart Holthaus gave the closing remarks.
Harrah's Rincon Casino and Resort and Lilac Hills Ranch donated the raffle prizes for the evening. Chamber of Commerce would like to extend special thanks to SDG&E, Melrose Ranch and Events, BStrohs Catering, and Harrah's Rincon Casino and Resort.
