May 08, 2013"Hues the Prettiest?"
Some time ago, I had placed a flowerpot with a "bland-looking" pale pink geranium in it on a plant stand all by itself against one wall of my front patio. (In other words, it was kind of a "wallflower") A few days ago, I bought a pot of vibrant-looking stocks in beautiful shades of purple and put it on a plant stand close to the geranium, casually thinking at the time that it would "steal the show" so to speak. I walked out this morning and noticed how beautiful my geranium looked. The hues of purple in the stock flowers just seemed to emphasize and enhance the hues of pale pink in the geranium. In turn, the purple hues looked even more vibrant next to the pale pink blooms. Together, they make an eye-catching flower display.
So I was thinking…..
How often do we shy away from others because we are intimidated by them; they're better looking, smarter, richer, more popular, funnier - you name it. On the other hand, do we intimidate others by acting like we're better looking, smarter, richer, more popular, funnier – you name it.
Think of someone who brings out the best in you, who makes you feel better about yourself, but at the same time makes you want to be a better person. That is the kind of person we like to be around, and that is the kind of person we should strive to be.
As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another. Proverbs 27:17
