March 05, 2014Ridgeview Church
A cross section of Valley Center life, from WW1 vets, to cowboys, to hippies to yuppies to Gen-Xers to even shudder Woods Valley people! Turtlenecks to tattoos. BMW's to bicycles. There's The Box of Chocolates Band and sermons that won't have you leafing through Concordances and Thesauruses trying to figure out the point. Pastor Bill is currently speaking on "Why love never fails". Ridgeview Church is a great place to make new friends, reconnect with old ones, and discover God's purpose for your life. There's an award winning preschool, after school programs and youth groups. There are also home study groups for men, women, or couples. There may even be one for dogs. Call 760-751-9890 or go to www.rc4u.org for further info.
This week is Ash Wednesday exhorting us to repent and believe in the Gospel. Through our Lenten practices of prayer, fasting and almsgiving, we recognize our need for healing as individuals and collectively as a society. This is an important clarification for many people who may tend to focus on Lent as a strictly penitential time and thus miss its potential to bring life and healing to our wounded world. The observance of Lent is not for God's sake, but for ours.
