St. Stephen Catholic Church

Let compassion be one of our choices. It is not simply a feeling but a way of looking at life. Look at the people we live with. We know their faults and neuroses. So we need to choose whether we are going to judge them or have compassion on them because we, too, have shortcomings and failures.

Faith Formation registrations now open. If you have a kindergartner or child who is ready to prepare for the Sacraments, please call or come by the office. Other children who attended last year will automatically be promoted and enrolled in the next level.

Our activities this week include the RCIA Inquiry session, the Rosary and Divine Mercy devotion, Eucharistic Adoration, Directory Photo Sessions, Bible study in Spanish, Confession, St. Vincent food distribution and Adult Faith formation with Gloria. Bible study continues at the home of the Boyd family.

We have photographers and equipment available to take your pictures for our upcoming Parish Directory. Be sure that you are included. A free 8 x 10 photo is for you too. Sign up online at and click on "Portrait Sign-up" or stop by the table after Mass. Some time slots are stillavailable.

The mission trip to Ecuador is coming soon. Baskets of goodies are available after all Masses for their fundraising efforts. Also there is a beautiful, signed drawing of the crown of Jesus available by a local parishioner.

SCRIP NEWS – If you are thinking about preparing for school, then be sure to purchase SCRIP for all your needs and help our youth at the same time. We have SCRIP for clothing stores, shoe stores and many, many others. Come to the SCRIP table after Mass to see what is available.

Valley Center Seventh-Day Adventist Church

St. Francis Episcopal Church

St. Francis Episcopal Church is a small but vibrant church in Pauma Valley. The church's mission is to share the love of Christ.The Episcopal Church welcomes all to celebrate and share Christ's love for his people. The church is at 16608 Hwy. 76 near the Pauma Valley Community Center. All are invited to join in our Sunday morning worship service.

Holy Eucharist is celebrated at both our Sunday services. The 8 a.m. service is a quiet service without music. The 10 a.m. service offers congregational singing and a weekly musical offering by the St. Francis Choir. After the 10 a.m. service, there is food, coffee, and conversation for all. We are a small but welcoming church. Come check us out!

Light of the Valley Church

At Light of the Valley Lutheran Church, Pastor Matt Helfrich leads participants in celebration of God's love and His grace at worship services held at 9 a.m. Sundays. The highlight of worship is Jesus' gift of Holy Communion. During a break before Bible study, participants enjoy fellowship time with refreshments and coffee.

Upcoming church events:

• Celebration BBQ and Family Movie at 5:45 p.m. Friday, Aug. 7. Enjoy hot dogs and hamburgers with beans, chips, potato salad and apple pie. Dinner will be followed by a family-friendly Christian movie.

• Church Picnic and games at 1 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 30.
