Valley Center is gearing up for Relay For Life 2013, which happens Saturday at Bates Nut Farm, beginning at 9 a.m. and running 24 hours (see details below).

Meantime, you have a chance to participate in raising funds for the event and possibly win a prize by stopping by A-1 Irrigation.

All proceeds go to the Valley Center Relay For Life Event, held at Bates Nut Farm on June 22 ! Do you have the Winning Key?

Stuart Holthaus and his A-1 Irrigation team is supplying the keys and making the drawing possible. Charlie Smith provided the purple door complete with locks.

Nineteen teams have signed up and will have members walking or running on the scenic track throughout the relay on Saturday at Bates. There will be time to celebrate, remember and fight back. Relay teams are encouraged to camp out overnight, and have committed to having at least one participant on the track at all times. Food, games, silent auction and activities will provide entertainment and raise cancer awareness throughout the 24 hours. To date, 20 teams have already raised over $32,000 and expect to surpass the $50,000 raised in 2012.

Relay highlights include the Survivors Lap at 9:30 a.m. Saturday morning to celebrate cancer survivors, and the Closing Ceremony at 9 a.m. Sunday to remember the lives of those lost to cancer. On Saturday at 8:30 p.m., the Luminaria Ceremony will provide a glowing tribute to all who have been affected by cancer.
