Pets and some people need TLC during July 4th fireworks show
June 26, 2013The July 4th fireworks sponsored by Valley View Casino and organized by Fireworks for Valley Center will go forward as planned at 6 p.m. from the Community Center Little League ball fields. Fireworks display begins at 9 pm.
Residents are advised by the organizers to make make special arrangements for persons or animals with sensitivities to noise.
Call a doctor or veterinarian concerning specific information about your loved one's care during the fireworks display.
General recommendations are as follows: Ear plugs or muffs are recommended, install lighting that can be turned on before the show that continue to mask the sky and sudden burst of light throughout the fireworks display and play music at an accelerated volume before, a during the show. Be sure that the environment where pets and persons are during the show is safe and secure without objects that could cause difficulty or harm in the event that they are startled.
The event is free to the public. Public parking is available for a $4 donation to the Highway Patrol's Explorer volunteer program. Traffic management will also be included with their assistance to get you safely into the facility and out as quickly as possible following the event.
An inflatable slide and obstacle course will be available for a suggested $1 donation with mandatory liability release form signed by a parent/legal guardian.
The Decades band will begin performing at 6 p.m. with the final song, God Bless America, played just before the lights go dark and the fireworks begin.
Bring your own chairs and balls or family fun activities to the Little League fields behind the VC Community Center for the 6 to 9 p.m. community event. Food will be available for sale from the Kiwanis and a salty sweet treat from Country Kettle Corn or you may bring your own. Flashlights and blankets are recommended.
Donations are gratefully accepted. Send any donation payable to Fireworks for Valley Center c/o America West Bank, 355 W. Grand Ave., Escondido, CA 92025. According to organizer Kelly Crews, "The event has not received as many local small business or family donations which is attributed to the yearlong requirement to promote the event. If you wish to continue July 4th Fireworks in Valley Center, please make a donation today."
