Missing California voter registration forms?

September 01, 2013
It was recently brought to the attention of the Roadrunner by a concerned citizen that California voter registration forms were unavailable at the Valley Center Post Office.

The citizen remembered that the forms were once readily available in the post office lobby and was curious as to why the forms were no longer there.

At some point the forms were taken along with their display holder from not only the local postal location but many others in San Diego County, according to Barbara Carr San Diego County voter outreach coordinator.

In order to ensure that all eligible voters had access to the forms a policy change was made requiring all post office locations to have an ample supply of the forms on hand. However you must ask for them from the postal clerks.

Joe Samper, the local postmaster, informed the Roadrunner that he has registration forms on hand for anyone who requires one. He said he also ordered a display holder and will place the forms in the main lobby in view of his employees so that the problem does not reoccur.

The next California Statewide Direct Primary Election will be held on June 3, 2014 the deadline to register is May 19, 2014.

For further information on eligibility and those who may need to re-register please contact the San Diego County Registrars Office at 858-565-5800 or go online at www.sos.ca.gov for more information.

You have a right to vote. Should you become aware of any election fraud or misconduct, please call the Secretary of State's confidential and toll-free voter hotline at (800) 345-VOTE (8683).
