VCCC Block Party huge hit
October 08, 2013In spite of blustery winds, the Valley Center Chamber of Commerce's 3rd annual Block Party went off without a hitch on Saturday when business owners and residents alike mingled outside the Community Center on Lilac Road.
"It was a very successful event in spite of the wind," Valley Center Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Mary Gordon said. "Everyone who came out said it was one of the best the events the chamber has put on so far this year."
Attendees of the block party were able to visit with more than 40 local business owners and sample offerings from local food vendors and restaurants while enjoying the musical stylings of San Diego country music favorites, the Drinking Cowboy Band.
John Yager won this year's grand prize including a night at Harrah's with a $100 gift certificate to the spa and $100 for food. He also won wines from Vineyard's Taste and a gift certificate for a spa massage at Valley Center Wellness Spa.
Other winners include Marge Johnson who won tickets to Melrose Ranch's upcoming community dinner and dance to be held Nov. 2, Sharon Briscoe from Valley Center Relay For Life won the a helicopter ride from Hummingbird Helicopters Inc., Kami Boaterman won a Patio heater from A-1 Do It Best Hardware and an iPod touch from Cosmic Solar and the Adams family won the dental exam from VC Smiles.
"I would say the event went really smoothly and we were very happy with everyone's participation," said Dr. Greg Carlson, Chamber vice president and event organizer said. "We look forward to continuing the event in the future."
