School Board to hold meeting

December 12, 2013
Employee recognitions, first reading of revised board policies and consideration for a summer school program are all items the Valley Center-Pauma Unified School District Board will consider during a regular meeting scheduled for Thursday evening.

During the meeting, the board will recognize Evette Striblen as the certificated employee of the month and Marrdell Pascarelli as the classified employee of the month for December.

The board will also conduct its first reading on revised board policies and administrative regulations regarding business and non-instructional operations and drug and alcohol testing for school bus drivers.

"The policies are already in place," said Lucy Contrearas, executive assistant to the superintendent. "We are just making some updates and revising language in them."

There will be a second reading of the policies in January.

A proposal regarding the 2014 summer school session will also be heard. Under the plan, the district plans to continue with an online program for high school students and a four-week extended school year program for eligible special education students. This will be the fourth year for online summer school.

In other news, the board will also hear reports on the Halloween carnival, the common core transition and hold a closed session regarding anticipated litigation, public employee disciplines and classified and certified personnel appointment, transfers, resignations, reassignments and evaluations.
