Tickets on sale for Wizard of Oz at VCMS
Alison Nelson and Amanda Baranowski putting final touches on sets and props for the VCMS production of the Wizard of Oz, opening March 14.
March 07, 2014The classic adventure of Dorothy, Scarecrow, Tin Man, and Cowardly Lion returns to Valley Center on March 14 at Valley Center Middle School. The Wizard of Oz, a timeless fantasy tale of overcoming self-doubt and making one's way back home, will be performed four times by a dedicated cast and crew of over 30 budding thespians between March 14 and 23.
With a little over a week until the curtain rises on the rollicking popular musical, cast, crew, and volunteers are hard at work on the production. The preparatory "tech week" is drawing to a close, and the final touches are being put on the lighting, costumes, sets, and props. Dress rehearsal is set to begin soon.
The Valley Center Middle School Drama program's spring musical has been a hit for nearly 20 years, and this year looks to be no exception. Producer Rich Horne has led the spring musical for several years, and will be joined by Director Toni Montross, Musical Director Laralee Beck, and Choreographer Valerie Nichols, who also choreographed the Little Mermaid last year.
The opening night of the Wizard of Oz is March 14 at 6:30 p.m. The show will also run on March 16 at 2 p.m., March 21 at 6:30 p.m., and March 23 at 2 p.m. Whether you're more of a Friday night theatre-goer or in the mood for a Sunday matinee, there are plenty of opportunities to catch this quintessential American musical.
Tickets are available for pre-sale now for $7 in the VCMS Multi-Purpose Room. They can also be purchased at the Country Junction Deli, Valley Salon & Nail Spa, or Java Journey.
