South Village to hold community design workshop

April 02, 2014
A second community workshop is scheduled to help determine the future of Valley Center's South Village. They will focus on clearly defining the community's vision and goals for development of Valley Center's South Village. The results will clearly articulate, encourage and guide the form and function of future development. Based on these workshops, development regulations will be drafted and presented to the community for input and review later this year. These workshops will build off the initial input received from a stakeholders meeting hosted by the Community Planning Group in January.

The second workshop will be an Open House on Saturday morning, April 5th at the Valley Center Municipal Water District from 9 until 11:30 a.m. Participants will see and comment on initial concepts prepared by the project team for the design of the South Village based on the vision, principles and goals developed at the first workshop. Input from these workshops will guide the preparation of new draft development regulations.

The first workshop was held on Wednesday evening, April 2 at the Valley Center Library Community Room from 6:30 until 9 p.m. Participants examined the characteristics of various places and determined what the community's vision for the South Village should be.

Input from these workshops will guide the preparation of new draft development regulations.

Next will be the formation of clear, underlying goals and principles and priorities that will lead to the realization of this vision. Residents and business and property owners are encouraged to share their vision of South Village should be.
