New homestead for the VC Stampede Rodeo

May 14, 2014
With all the changes in town, the existence of the Rodeo was in doubt for this year. However, a good samaritan group stepped up to the plate to save this much anticipated and traditional event.

According to Rodeo Chairwoman and local realtor, Joyce Holmes, "After twelve years of going from one 501c to another, I feel we have found our home with the Valley Center Optimists. I have free reign and get to do what I love – keep the rodeo alive in today's wild west world."

As one of the original Committee Members and a solid backbone of the Stampede Rodeo since 2002, she began working on the 2014 Stampede Rodeo immediately after the 2013 rodeo wrapped up. The planning and execution of the rodeo takes hundreds of volunteer hours and thousands of dollars in sponsorship donations to bring the rodeo to Valley Center each year. However, while others have come and gone over the years, Holmes has stayed the course and maintained her commitment to providing a quality, family-friendly rodeo each year.

The Valley Center Stampede Rodeo Committee is well underway in the planning of the 2014 VC Stampede Rodeo and this year is sure to be the best year yet. These two groups share the same mission statement which is to "Bring out the best in kids" and to support the youth and youth programs of Valley Center. The rodeo committee is made up entirely of volunteers and all profits are donated back to the Optimist Club of Valley Center, who supports many youth programs in Valley Center. The participant lineup is growing, entertainment is booked, sponsors are onboard, and the popular signups for mutton busting, junior barrels, and the boot scramble are in full swing. Along with the added youth events, the rodeo will also have carnival type games for the kids and more!

Grab the kids and come show support for the local volunteers, organizations, and businesses that have banded together to make the 2014 VC Stampede Rodeo possible. For event entry forms, rodeo information, and rodeo sponsorship opportunities, go to www.VCStampede.com.
