Lou Obermeyer, who will be retiring this summer as the Valley Center-Pauma Unified School District superintendent, was given a CIF life pass at the CIF Board of Managers meeting June 4.

"I'm thrilled. It's truly something I've always wanted to have, and so to be honored with a life pass means a lot to me," Obermeyer said.

The CIF awards life passes for distinguished service.

"She's been a huge supporter of CIF programs," CIF commissioner Jerry Schniepp said of Obermeyer. "She really understands the importance of extracurricular activities."

Obermeyer has been the superintendent of the Valley Center-Pauma Unified School District for eight years and has been Valley Center's representative on the CIF Board of Managers during that time.

"CIF is so important," Obermeyer said. "I've really appreciated the work that the Board of Managers do. I think in the end we always do what's best for kids."

Obermeyer has a total of 37 years in education, including 12 as a superintendent.
