BARK FOR LIFE

Bark For Life Valley Center will hold its first fundraiser, Waggin for Brews on Sunday, July 27 from noon to 3 p.m. at RIP Current Brewing located at 1325 Grand Ave,., Suite 100 in San Marcos; Discounted registration for the event, raffles, craft brews and food will all be available at this fundraiser. Bark For Life Valley Center will be held at Bates Nut Farm on Saturday, September 20, beginning at 9 a.m. Contact Lori Lallo at barkforlifevc@gmail.com for more information.

INFORMATIONAL WORKSHOPS

on reverse mortgages will be held on Wednesday July 23 from 6 – 7 p.m. and Saturday July 26 from 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. at the Valley Center Library. Refreshments will be served. VCPUSD SUMMER HOURS

During the summer the District Office and Business Office will be closed on July 18 and July 25. The offices will be open regular business hours 7 a.m. – 4 p.m. Monday thru Thursday.

ESCONDIDO REPUBLICAN CLUB MEETING

Tony Krvaric, the Chairman of the Republican Party of San Diego County, will be the guest speaker for the Escondido Republican Club's (TERC) meeting on Monday, July 21. Krvaric will be sharing his vision for electing and re-electing Republicans to all levels of government. The meeting will be held at the Cocina del Charro restaurant located at 890 West Valley Parkway in Escondido. Check-in starts at 11:30 a.m. with the buffet luncheon service beginning at 11:45 a.m. and the meeting starting promptly at noon and concluding at 1:00 p.m. A reservation is necessary. The cost is $14 per person.

PROPERTY TAX ASSESSMENT APPEALS

For those who wish to appeal the appraised value of their property, appeals may be filed from July 2 through Dec. 1 Applications and booklets with instructions are available at the Clerk of the Board's office in the County Administration Center or by visiting www.sdcounty.ca.gov. Once filled out applications and forms can be mailed to Clerk of The Board of Supervisors, Assessment Appeals, 1600 Pacific Highway, Room 402, San Diego, CA 92101-2461.

2ND TUESDAY BOOK CLUB

Escondido, CA - Escondido Public Library invites adult readers to join the 2nd Tuesday Book Club meeting on Tuesday, August 12 at 6 p.m. in the Turrentine Room. This month's selection is The Wandering Falcon by Jamil Ahmad. The 2nd Tuesday Book Club will continue on September 9, 2014, with a discussion on Sweet Tooth by Ian McEwan. The selection for October 14, 2014 will be the 2014 One Book, One San Diego title, Montress by Lysley Tenorio. BILINGUAL BOOK DISCUSSION GROUP

Escondido Public Library's Bilingual Book discussion Group, will meet on Saturday, July 26 from 3:30 – 4:45 p.m. in the Library's board Room. Author and journalist, Miriam Ruvinskis, will lead the discussion in both English and Spanish. Una boda en Haiti / Wedding in Haiti by Julia Alvarez is the selected book for July. Rincón Literario meets regularly on the last Saturday of the month to explore literature published in English and Spanish. On August 30, from 3:30-4:45 p.m. readers will discuss Mi vida querida / Dear Life by Alice Munro. Rincón Literario is made possible by generous support from Friends of the Escondido Public Library. This program is free and open to the public.
