Adams Park pool a well-kept VC secret
July 30, 2014In July, we fry! Or do we? On these sweltering hot and humid days, don't you wish you had a pool? Well, if you're a Valley Center resident, you do. One of the best-kept and under-used facilities in Valley Center is the Adams Park pool.
A 25-meter pool located at 28751 Cole Grade Road is kept between 80 and 85 degrees year around. It could be a welcome break from the hot mucky days we have been experiencing here lately. It is staffed by Red Cross Certified Lifeguards, who are also some of our local Jaguar swim and water polo team members. Swim lessons are offered for a reasonable fee. Recreational swim is available Monday through Friday from11:40 a.m. to 3:20 p.m. and on Saturday and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Water fitness instruction can be had for a reasonable fee of $40 for a 10 class session and the class is held every Saturday from 7 a.m. to 8 a.m.
Arlye Morrison is the director of the Adams Park Swimming Facility.
If you enjoy lap swimming, it is held Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. and11:40 a.m. to 3:20 P.M., Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Valley Center High School senior and swim team member Samantha Gonzalez takes a break from her swim instructing to enjoy the cool water at the Adams Park pool.
Pool parties require a two-hour minimum booking for $175 and a third hour for $65, which includes two lifeguards. One lifeguard is for 35 people. Additional swimmers require more guards.
PooWl admission is $5 per person. Summer individual swim passes are $80 for recreational swim only. Family passes are available for $170 and lap swim passes are $40 per month.
So next time the kids complain of it being too hot, take them to the Adams Park pool. And, why not take a dip with them?
