November 21, 2013In the Government's rush to implement Obama Care, oops, Obama Core, our school is happy to spend $830,800 of Valley Center taxpayer's, oops, state money, to get teachers, students and especially parents on board the Common Core band wagon. Common Core is a set of educational guidelines to teach "grit, tenacity, and perseverance" in a "technology-rich" environment to all students in order for them to be good, global 21st century citizens. According to a U.S. Department of Education Report, "Educators implementing programs to promote grit, tenacity, and perseverance should consider outreach to parents and guardians as an important support for students as they develop new capabilities. In some contexts, parents may need to be educated about best practices."
What do students receive from VCPUSD so they can be taught grit, tenacity, and perseverance like all the rest of the students in the U.S.? iPads! Give all the high school students iPads! Yeah! What could go wrong? VCPUSD students are certainly not like LAUSD students who not only lost 71 tablets, but also hacked their iPads' firewall within a week.
According to a parent who spoke at the most recent school board meeting, grit, tenacity and perseverance looked a lot like nude women. That's right, some students had not only bypassed their school-issued iPad's firewall but they were using the iPads to view pornography. What do the girls at the high school learn when they see their fellow male students looking at nude women on their school-issued iPads? I would imagine it would go something like this:
Now Suzie, please with grit, tenacity, and perseverance please tell us how you respectfully agree or disagree with your fellow students looking at nude women.
Federal takeover of our Health Care, oops, our children's education, what could go wrong?
