Girls golf team focuses on developing skills in 2013

August 07, 2013
Going through a season without a single win can be more than difficult, and the Valley Center varsity girls golf team knows all too well how a winless season feels.

The Lady Jaguars finished 0–11–1 overall last year and graduated one of the team's best players in Kaley Prudham. But head coach Shandrea Degen knows that rebuilding a successful team takes time and effort, which she hopes will translate into some more positive glimpses of success this year.

"We started with such an inexperienced team last year, I'm not sure that we have a top player or players," she says. "They all improved from the start of the year and we look forward to a win this year. We're in a rebuilding stage, but we have several freshman ladies interested in the golf team. It's a tough game, so most of the girls are just focusing on their skills in what is a very difficult game."
