VC cross-country teams bring home a pair of second-place finishes from Valley League Finals
Five runners earn First Team All- League honors
November 20, 2013Valley Center's varsity cross- country teams enjoyed another stellar performance this weekend, as the Jaguars earned a pair of second-place finishes and placed five runners in the top ten overall.
For their efforts, five Jaguars received a selection to the All-League First Team, as Bannon Greer, Fernando Ramirez and Rod Rodriguez were honored for the Jaguars and Helen Lopez and April Lackpour received the honor for the Lady Jaguars.
Receiving All-League Second Team honors were Delaney Cummings, Danielle Pettit, Riley McCarrick, Austin Reser and AJ Monzon.
Greer led the Jaguars with a second-place finish out of 61 runners, as he finished the course in 15:54, while Ramirez took fourth (16:19), Rodriguez finished eighth (16:47), Reser was 16th (17:13), Monzon was 20th (17:20), Thomas Stehly was 21st (17:26), Tyler Appolito was 24th (17:29), Sam McCuskey was 26th (17:36), Nick Mendoza was 29th (17:50), Jonathan Glassell was 35th (18:04), Charles Morningstar was 39th (18:15) and Daniel Zorrilla was 48th (18:38).
For the Lady Jags, Lopez led the way in fourth out of 57 runners (17:59), while Lackpour was right behind in fifth (18:05), Cummings was 11th (18:41), Pettit was 15th (19:02), McCarrick was 17th (19:09), Reese Henderson was 26th (19:42), Hailie Santana was 33rd (20:02), Julia Stone was 37th (20:12), Hannah Boyd was 38th (20:13) and Monica Lambarena was 48th (21:42).
In the team scores, Del Norte swept the league title with a score of 28 for the girls and 43 for the boys. Valley Center was second in both divisions, scoring 50 for the girls and 48 for the boys, while Mission Vista was third in the girls division with 78 and Ramona scored 70 for third in the boys division.
Next up for the Jaguars is the CIF Finals meet at Morley Field on Saturday, with the boys running at 11:15 a.m. and the girls taking off at 12:50 p.m.
