December 18, 2013The Valley Center varsity girls soccer team got off to a blistering start this season with four straight wins, including a pair of victories to start the Barons Tournament.
But the Lady Jaguars couldn't make it past the semifinals of the tournament, as they lost two games in a row, both of which came in one-goal games.
The Lady Jags beat Christian 1–0 to open the Barons Tournament, as Helen Lopez scored in the second half to lift her team to the win.
They followed that with another 1–0 win, this one over Olympian, on the strength of a goal by Emily Venisse.
But in the final game of the pool play portion of the tournament, the Lady Jags couldn't find a way to get on the board and suffered a 1–0 loss against High Tech High.
Then in the semifinals against Our Lady of Peace, the Lady Jaguars played their fourth consecutive 1–0 game, and for the second game in a row, they came up on the short end of the score.
Valley Center will look to get back on track with a home game on Thursday against San Marcos at 5:15 p.m. before they take a few weeks off for the holidays.
