Valley Center's varsity wrestling team took part in the annual Jim Londos Tournament at Orange Glen High School this weekend, and brought home a pair of top-five finishes.

Lorenzo Gomez finished second in the heavyweight division after a hard-fought, controversial match against San Pasqual's Derreck Cooper ended in a 3–1 decision for Cooper.

Meanwhile, Alexander Armenta placed fifth in the 106-pound division, as he placed for the first time in his career placing.

The Jaguars also participated in the Asics SoCal Challenge in Orange County over the holiday break, where Gomez placed fourth in the heavyweight division.

Next up, the Jaguars travel to Ramona on Thursday for a meet at 7 p.m., then they are set to take part in the Rancho Bernardo Tournament on Saturday, beginning at 9 a.m.
