With the season winding down toward the playoffs, the Valley Center varsity girls water polo team put together a solid week, with a win and a loss in two games at home, while celebrating their seniors along the way. The Lady Jaguars beat Del Norte on Wednesday and downed San Pasqual on Thursday after honoring the team's four seniors—Makaila Keeley, Becca Vizcarra, April Lackpour and Stephanie McCaulley—in the final home game of the season. Against Del Norte on Wednesday, the Lady Jags overcame a slow start to put together a great fourth quarter to seal a 12–8 win. "This was a good win for the girls as this was a league game," said head coach Kyle Kline. "We struggled on offense with some missed passes and shots but the girls kept plugging away and took control in the third quarter." Casia Morrison had a great game with seven goals, one assist, seven steals, one exclusion, and one penalty shot. Zoe Zeller had a solid game with three goals, three assists, one steal, and earned one exclusion. Makaila Keeley had two goals playing in the field in the fourth quarter including one penalty shot. April Lackpour had a solid game with five assists, three steals. Makaila Keeley had four goal saves and three steals in three quarters in the goal. Becca Vizcarra had one goal save in the fourth quarter. Then on Thursday, the Lady Jaguars honored their seniors before taking on San Pasqual and taking a 12–8 loss. Valley Center stayed with the Lady Eagles through the first half, but San Pasqual pulled away in the third quarter and held on for the win. "This was a tough game for the girls," Coach Kline said. "We struggled at both ends of the pool." Casia Morrison had six goals, one assist, two steals, three exclusions, and one penalty shot. Zoe Zeller had one goal, two assists, two steals, and one exclusion. April Lackpour had one goal, one assist. Sam Gonzalez had one assist. Stephanie McCaulley had one penalty shot. Makaila Keeley had one save, two blocks, and one steal. The Lady Jaguars are participating in the San Diego Open Tournament throughout the week, including games on Friday and Saturday that are yet to be determined.
