VC girls soccer team wins twice on the road

February 07, 2014Winning on the road is never an easy task, especially against a rival. But the Valley Center varsity girls soccer team pulled off a pair of away wins this week to help the VCHS girls varsity teams represent their school during rivalry week. The Lady Jaguars played at Ramona last Wednesday and got the goals they needed early in the game to bring home a 2–1 win. Raquel Cifuentes and Kiana Diefenbach each scored in the first half to give Valley Center an early lead, and though the Lady Bulldogs scored in the second half, the Lady Jags held on to take the win. Then on Friday the Lady Jaguars traveled down the hill to take on Orange Glen and once again came home with a 2–1 win. This time, both teams scored early and the game was tied at one at the half, but Valley Center came through with a clutch goal in the second half to get the win. Emily Venisse and Diefenbach were the goal-scorers for the Lady Jags in the win. The two wins bring Valley Center's record to 6–6–3 on the season so far, with only six games left on the schedule. The team has already hosted Mission Vista on Wednesday, so the next game is on the road again at Oceanside on Friday at 5:15 p.m.
