Jaguars host track and field invitational

Despite Spring Break, participant turnout was remarkable as the Jaguars of Valley Center hosted their annual track and field invitational last Saturday at the high school athletic field. The second largest track and field event in San Diego County attracted teams from as far away as the Imperial Valley, Brawley, and Anza to compete in the annual event.

It was a beautiful day for a track and field meet. Leading off with the competition in the men's varsity 100-meter race was Valley Center Jaguar Anthony Ricks who came in with a time of 11.09 second, just short of San Marcos High School's Isiah Hennie who's time for the event was 11.05 seconds. Anthony dominated the varsity men's 200-meter competition with a time of 22.63 seconds, followed closely by Mt. Carmel's Rashid Shaheed who finished with a time of 22.83 seconds.

In the women's varsity 100-meter race, Jaguar Hallie Santana placed fifth with a time of 12.85 seconds. Casandra Bishop came in with a time of 28.23 seconds in the women's varsity 200-meter event for the Jaguars. In the 200 meter competition, VC's Casandra Bishop timed in at 28.23 second.

Running and bounding gracefully with a natural stride was Hanna Nealis in the women's 100-meter hurdle-33" who came in first with a time of 15.58 seconds for the Valley Center Jaguars. Madeline Stehly finished with a time of 18.36 seconds. The Jaguar women did very well in the varsity 300-meter hurdles- 30". Danielle Petit came in with a time of 49.72 seconds, followed by Delaney Cummings at 50 seconds.

In the shot put 4kg event, Savanna Riley came in behind Castle Park's Teariah Jackson with a shot of 35-04.00 and Bailey Sanders effort a 31-09.00 for the Jaguars. In the discus 1.6kg, Austin Peredes beat out the competition with a score of 147-11. Savanna Riley came in with a final result of 109-03 for a second place finish. In the women's high jump, Clara Padinske finished in the top position with a jump of 4-10.00.
