Valley Center native and University of Utah outside linebacker Trevor Reilly was drafted by the New York Jets in the seventh round of the NFL Draft last weekend. Reilly, who was an honorable mention in the 2013 A.P.'s All American, was the 233rd pick during the annual event.

Reilly, who was unavailable for comment prior to press time, consistently presented impressive stats while at Utah. Commonly referred to as one of the PAC-12's best defensive ends and linebackers, he played 48 games in his college career, including all 37 from 2011 through 2013. Reilly's stats include 32 starts and finished in the top five in six of Utah's career record categories including sacks, sack yards, tackles for loss, TFL yards, fumble recoveries and fumbles forced. He also led the team in tackles as both a junior and a senior.

The Economics major and team captain was one of 12 semifinalists for the Butkus Award, which honors the nation's best college linebacker.

While at Valley Center, Reilly was named second-team all-CIF. His record included 83 tackles, 13 tackles for loss, one fumble recovery and six sacks as a senior. He also played tight end, catching 24 passes for 290 yards and three touchdowns, totaled 131 tackles, 13 for loss, nine sacks and four fumble recoveries his junior season and won back-to-back CIF championships. Reilly earned the National Football Foundation's Willie Jones Most Inspirational Player Award from the San Diego Chapter and also played basketball and volleyball where he was named all-league in volleyball along with the league volleyball championship.

Reilly is the son of Ross and Kris Reilly.
