Roadrunner editor speaks at library fundraiser in his honor

Aug. 25 was 'David Ross Day'

August 27, 2013
Local residents honored David Ross, editor of The Roadrunner by attending a day in his honor Aug. 25.

Upon taking the stage, Ross addressed the crowd by stating that a June 13 fire which burned down his home led to him realizing that only through such a tragedy could he know he has so many friends in the community.

"It's nice that over the years I have unexpectedly collected many, many friends in the course of my work," he said after the event.

The Montebello native moved to San Diego County in 1969 and started his work at The Roadrunner in 1984, officially assuming the role of editor five years later.

The Valley Center Women Republicans sponsored the fundraiser to aid Ross in acquiring a new book collection after his sizeable personal library of several hundred volumes was lost to the flames more than two months ago.
