Amelia Villalobos will lead parade as Grand Marshal

May 21, 2013A near centenarian from the San Pasqual Band of Indians, Amelia Villalobos, will lead the Western Days Parade on Saturday as Grand Marshal.
Amelia Villalobos celebrated her 99th Birthday on March 29, 2013. She was born Amelia Dora Contreras on March 29, 1914. She was born in the San Pasqual Valley and later moved to Escondido as a small girl.
Mrs. Villalobos lived most of her life in Escondido. She is eldest of eight children and the daughter of Modesta Martinez and Paul Contreras. She married at the age of 18 years of age to Joseph Villalobos from Orange County. She and her husband had six children; John Villalobos, Della Villalobos, Josie Villalobos, Peter Villalobos (deceased), Mary (Villalobos) Varela and Joseph Villalobos, Jr. (deceased).
Mrs. Villalobos has six generations of family living: Children, Grandchildren, Great-Grandchildren, Great-Great Grandchildren and a Great-Great-Great Grand child, all of which were in attendance to help celebrate her special day and extend their well wishes. Amelia is very blessed with family and friends. Happy 99th Birthday Amelia. We look forward to celebrating your 100th birthday next year!
