Gene and Marge Lovelady celebrate 50th wedding anniversary
August 14, 2013Gene and Marge Lovelady of Valley Center celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at Adam's Park Aug. 3, along with many family and friends. The Loveladys were married Aug. 3, 1963 in El Cajon, Calif.
They moved to Valley Center in 1970 when their daughter Debbie was 4-years-old and son Brian was 1 to enjoy country living and work for Gene's uncle Harry Lovelady who then owned the Arco station at Cole Grade and Valley Center Road.
In 1972, the couple befriended Don and Carlynn Bartlett and helped establish Bartlett Agriculture Supply in Valley Center. Gene worked for Don Bartlett for 14 years while Marge took care of the household, kids, and worked for the Valley Center school district as a classroom aid. After 14 years, Gene had the opportunity to purchase Bartlett Agriculture Supply and turned it into G & L Farm Supply, running the business for 15 years until he retired.
Currently, they are enjoying retired life camping, fishing with the Escondido Angler's Chapter, staying involved at Light of the Valley Lutheran Church and spending time with the grandkids.
Gene and Marge's daughter Debbie is married to John Martineau and have twin sons Eric and Ryan who are juniors at California State University, San Marcos. Son Brian is married to Jessica who have a 5-year-old-son, Austin, and 2-year-old daughter, Aubrey. Both of their children live and work in Valley Center.
The Lovelady's want to thank all of their family and friends who attended the anniversary celebration and showed their love and helped them enjoy their special day.
