Cabrillo Kennel Club to hold all-breed dog show at Bates Nut Farm
August 21, 2013More than 1000 dogs of all breeds will be at Bates Nut Farm to compete in Cabrillo Kennel Club's All-Breed Dog Show Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 31 and Sept. 1, starting at 7 a.m. both days.
Offered classes cover: sporting breeds, hounds, terriers, toys, non-sporting breeds, herding breeds, working breeds and Junior Showmanship. Ribbons will be awarded through 4th place, and trophies will be awarded in several categories. There will also be Owner-Handler competition at the breed and group level, with the title of Best in Show Owner-Handler up for grabs.
Dog lovers will enjoy the top-notch competition, and will also have the opportunity to look behind the scenes to watch groomers, trainers and owners prepare their dogs for the show ring. The Cabrillo Kennel Club is a nonprofit organization sponsoring these all-breed shows not only to showcase AKC breeds in competition, but to give back to the community. They support the AKC Canine Health Foundation, the San Diego County Sheriff Department, K-9 officers, the Humane Society and San Diego County Animal Control. At this show they will be presenting a grant check to the Southwest Search Dogs of Oceanside. This grant is provided by the AKC Companion Animal Recovery (CAR) Support and Relief Fund for search and rescue canines and their volunteer handlers who provide vital services in times of emergency and during natural disasters.
Dogs on a leash are welcome at Bates Nut Farm, however only service dogs are allowed inside the retail stores.
