January 08, 2014There's always something to look forward to in the New Year.
After the ball drops and midnight kisses are exchanged, the New Year hugs are given and resolution are posted on Facebook we start a blank page of a 365-page book. There are triumphs and hardships waiting ahead ready to splatter ink on the pages of your life. We have so much to look forward to this year.
At school we get a new semester with a new start and a new grading period that sets a clean slate. A new Jag Idol winner will be crowned and new friendships made. The dancers will give us their greatest show yet and drama will wow us with their Spring production. Seniors will graduate and a new class President will be voted in. Eighth graders will walk the halls as Freshman in August and Common Core will come into play.
In the world, we get old traditions like another FIFA World Cup and the Winter Olympics. New beginnings like a new Doctor and Disney princess film. A new hope like our troops being withdrawn from the Afghan Civil War in December and the possibility that this year, Leo might win his Oscar. New lives will be made and old, wise ones will pass on. Voices for advocacy will be heard and tolerance will be a bigger priority.
We will make new wishes and accomplish old ones. See new sights and remember fond memories. Discover a little more about ourselves and who we want to be.
A new year brings about so many new doors and opportunities and I hope this year is your best year yet, Jags.
