Valley Center Chamber of Commerce offers music, art, and wine
February 13, 2014February promises to be a fun-filled month for the Valley Center Chamber of Commerce beginning with the Sundowner on Thursday, Feb. 20 at Ridgeview Church on 28094 N. Lake Wohlford Road, Valley Center. From 5:30 until 7 p.m., there will be food, networking, and a raffle. The event will be hosted by Valley Center Happenings who will be highlighting Valley Center Relay For Life. Sundowners are held every third Thursday. Sunrisers are held the first Friday of the month at The Chamber.
Featured on Saturday, Feb. 22 from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. will be Armstrong Feed and Supply's Chick Days located at 28520 Cole Grade Road, Valley Center. Beginning Saturday, Feb. 22 at 7:30 p.m., concerts, sponsored by Jimmy Cline's Cattle Call LLC in conjunction with Two Worlds Connect, will be presented.
All genres of music are featured including Country, Southern Blue Grass, with the Latin spice of Carlos Olmeda. All profits above the artist's proceeds are donated to Hope, a place where young women can stay while being rehabilitated after escaping human trafficking.
On Tuesday, Feb. 25, The Vineyard Wines and Tastes will be highlighted. The Vineyard, specializing in high-quality wines at great values and the best micro-brews, offers over 90 wines from around the world and over 30 craft beers. San Diego Magazine rated The Vineyard a Best of Award Winner of North County. At the wine bar, guests are invited to sample a glass or buy a bottle of wine to take home. There are more than eight wines to choose from produced locally in Valley Center.
In the retail shop, there are a variety of wine accessories, art, and gifts. Ample indoor seating is available as well as an outside patio. The entire wine bar and patio can be reserved for parties, work events, special wine flights, and private wine tastings. The Vineyard also features a Thursday in March at 6 p.m. as the next special wine tasting event. Happy Hour is every Tuesday and Wednesday in which there is 20 percent off glasses of select wine all day until sold out.
The Vineyard offers a monthly wine club to sign up for with several wine club options making it a great way to explore the world of wine. The Vineyard hand selects two quality wines each month. If the wine club member picks up wine on the designated pick-up day, the member will receive a complimentary half-glass wine in addition to 10 percent off purchase at the wine bar or retail store on that particular day. Special wine tasting events are free to club members.
On Tuesday, Feb. 25 through Tuesday, March 4, the David Miller Art Sculpture Exhibit will be featured at The Vineyard. On Thursday, Feb. 27 at 5 p.m., there will be a Meet and Greet with the artist, David Miller. The Vineyard Wines and Tastes is located at 28714 Valley Center Road in Valley Center. Hours of operation are Tuesday through Thursday from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m., Friday and Saturday 2 p.m. until 9 p.m.
The VC Chamber is making preparations for Western Days and the Honorary Mayor's Race is getting ready to kick off. Candidates for each participating organization will be introduced at the Irish Stew Cook-Off on Thursday, March 13. After the candidates are presented, the 2014 Honorary Mayor will be announced on Friday night, May 23 during Western Days. The following day, the winner of the Mayor's Race will ride in the Western Days Parade.
