The second annual Country Flea Market will take place at Bates Nut Farm on April 26 from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. The Country Flea Market coincides with an entire weekend of activities including the Spring Fling Craft Fair on Saturday and Sunday, which features a variety of handmade items, candles, fabric arts, jewelry, woodworking, paintings, and photography.

"This is going to be a great weekend on the farm," said Linda Gluckman, Public Relations for Bates Nut Farm. "There will be something for everyone – night owls, early risers, shoppers, and car enthusiasts."

Modeled after the Canton Flea Market in Texas, the old-fashioned flea market will be filled with vintage treasures, antiques, and crafts. Shoppers will find antiques and collectibles on Antique Alley, handmade items in the Arts and Crafts Market Place, and a variety of new products and services on Business Boulevard. Community Court provides local non-profit organizations with a venue for fundraising. This is the ideal opportunity to find unique Mother's Day, graduation, wedding, shower, and baby gifts.

Hungry shoppers can visit Gourmet Place from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. for kettle corn, sweet treats, and other light snacks. What's Cooking BBQ and gourmet food trucks will serve heartier fare.

"We want to encourage families to come out and enjoy their day on the farm with the special events, picnic grounds, farm zoo, and retail stores filled with delicious treats," said Gluckman.

There is still room for vendors to participate. Space is available for antique and collectible sellers, crafts, business, and community non-profits.

"It was great to see the school groups come out last year and do fundraising," said Marketing Manager Sherrie Bates Ness, a fourth generation Bates family member.

The cost for a space is $50. Space for non-profits is free. Vendor applications can be downloaded from www.batesnutfarm.biz.

There is no charge for admission to the Country Flea Market and there is plenty of free parking.

"We invite everyone to come out and enjoy the sunshine, fresh air, and a relaxing day in the country," said Gluckman.

Bates Nut Farm is located 20 minutes east of I-15 through Escondido at 15954 Woods Valley Road, Valley Center.
