Entertain the kids over summer without breaking the bank

Summer is here and many parents are wondering what to do with the kids without breaking the bank.

How about a reading program with a book report for summer vacation? How about a fun day cleaning house with mom? How about a relaxing day of cleaning out the garage for Dad? How about clipping out coupons for mom? Dad could sure use some help pulling weeds! How about unplugging the electronics for the summer program?

To help you maintain your sanity let's face it, I don't think they are going for any of these suggestions. Let's look at what is available here locally to stop the cries of "I'm bored!"

Here are some suggestions for keeping sanity, peace, and tranquility for the summer vacation, what to do with the kids dilemma.

First on the list:

Lake Wohlford Catfish Derby

Cost: $8 for day use (Palomar Mountain Observatory is free)
