All Tribes FFA students successful at fair

July 16, 2014
On June 29, the All Tribes FFA members moved into the San Diego County Fair with their livestock projects. The students exhibited their market hogs, lambs, and cattle on June 30 and July 1 . These market animals have been cared for by high school students over the past school year and were judged at the fair based on their muscle, leanness, growth, balance, eye appeal, and structural soundness.

The All Tribes students did very well this year, all receiving blue ribbons or higher. The hog division placings are as follows: Noah Trujillo: FFA Reserve Champion Market Hog; Alisha Pico: Champion Super Heavy Weight Market Hog; Nina Diaz: Reserve Champion Super Heavy Weight Market Hog; Leihua Mendoza: First Place in Class; William Diaz: Second Place in Class. In the lamb division, John Kaai-Subish received first place in his class. In the cattle division, Nina Diaz received sixth place in class and William Diaz received seventh place in class. All the animals were sold in the San Diego County Fair Auction or through a barn sale and each student made a profit from their project this year.
