Celebrate Earth Day at Dos Valles flower show, plant sale


Dos Valles Garden Club is sponsoring the “Nurturing Natives, Friends and Family” plant and flower show, which opens to the public for free on Friday, April 21 from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday, April 22 from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Valley Center Library, 29200 Cole Grade Rd.

Also on Saturday, the club will hold its Earth Day Plant Sale from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Martin Gang Ranch, 28933 Cole Grade Rd.

Entries sought

Local amateur gardeners and flower arrangers are invited to enter plants, flowers or vegetables in the Flower Show.  Entries will be accepted on Wednesday, April 19 from 6-7 p.m. and Thursday, April 20 from 9:30-11 a.m. at the Valley Center Library. Design entries were accepted by Design Entries Chair Pauline Sechi on Sunday, April 2.

Judging will begin at 1 p.m. on Thursday, April 20 and the show is open to the public on Friday and Saturday. This show conforms to the standards and objectives of the National Garden Clubs, Inc.

Plant Sale

On Saturday, April 22—Earth Day—the plant sale will offer flowers, house plants, succulents, trees, natives and other plants, as well as free refreshments. The sale will be held at the Martin Gang Ranch.

Proceeds from the sales are used to support community activities and scholarships for local students.
