I can't tell you how thankful we are for this blog! We've been staying with friends in Menifee since the evacuation on Tuesday and couldn't get any San Diego news. We're thrilled everything's ok and we can head back home.

More mandatory evacuations
Posted @ 5:33 PM

County officials say they've called for the mandatory evacuation of Lake Henshaw, Mesa Grande and the La Jolla Indian Reservation because of fire danger.

Residents who are west of Hellhole Canyon, north of Palomar Mountain to Warner Springs, south of Bear Valley and Rancho Santa Ysabel and east of Montezuma Valley are under a mandatory evacuation notice.

Evacuees should take state Route 79 to S-2 to S-22 to Borrego High School.

Thanks for noticing that McNally does not connect with Lilac (San Antonio connects to Lilac, but does not connect with Mcnally). Future road planning should include a connector.

I didn't know when we moved to Valley Center we'd suddenly disappear. I cannot believe the lack of coverage of our area during this firestorm from the SD County and US media. The entire US thinks these fires affected a bunch of millionaires in 10,000 sf. homes living in Malibu and Del Mar while sipping lattes and being massaged at evacuation shelters. Anyway, thanks for passing on the information, and I'm going to sharpen my pencil and start writing some letters to news channels and Big Town papers telling them they did our community a HUGE disservice. We appreciate you Roadrunner.

Thank you for your info! I am Texas, my family just got back in to our home. Needless to say news here is sketchy, it's all about wealthy areas, but I understand it is the same at home! Your blogs have kept me a little more informed. I know I can fly home tomorrow!

I have been amazed at the lack of information available from any of the news channels about the fires effecting the Valley Center area. As once again the news personnel cover only the imediate areas and ignore a large portion of evacuated residents. The coverage north of the riverside count line largly related news of the fires at Arrowhead and Malibu, while San Diego news channels related news of Witch fire and Harris why is that???
