San Diego North County Blue Star Mothers is a support group serving the San Diego area military and families. Our founding mothers first came together in September 2005 and meet regularly to share our worries, pride, and devotion to our children who are now serving in every branch of the military. We are an official chapter of the Blue Star Mothers of America, Inc., a group formed during World War II.
The Blue Star Mothers of America is a non-partisan, non-political, non-sectarian, non-discriminatory and non-profit organization. We do not support any political candidate, nor do we endorse any religious organization. The military represents all aspects of America, as does our organization. Our mission is to support through service:Members and their sons and daughters who serve or have served honorably in the Armed Forces of the United States of America.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater San Diego provide a positive place for kids. Youth of all backgrounds are inspired and enabled to realize their full potential as healthy, productive, responsible and caring citizens. Some weekly programs include homework help, computers, crafts, games, leadership training, sports, special group clubs and events. To join, a membership application must be completed by an adult or guardian for youth in grades K-8. There is a $50 annual membership fee per child. Children in grades 1 & 2 are in a separate program and additional monthly fees apply.

Cub Scouts is for boys in grades K-5. Last year they enjoyed the Pinewood Derby where kids make their own cars and have races, camping, blue and gold banquets, activities with den and also as a pack. Pack usually meets last Friday of the month.

They fund-raise for the youth, sponsor the Teen Republican program and take students to advocacy day in Sacramento to see the government in action. Friends of Hellhole Canyon Open Space Preserve

The Preserve is located in VC’s Paradise Mountain area  and the Friends club is going on six years as a nonprofit educational and land conservation organization. Founded by local residents they have 100 dues paying members. They sponsor monthly docent-led hikes, including horse hikes and quarterly general meetings on topics related to open space and our local natural habitatsThey recently completed a 155-acre land acquisition that was added to the Preserve greatly increasing local trails and open space for the public to enjoy in perpetuity. We raised nearly $450,000 to complete that project and are working on others to protect open space for parks, people and nature in Valley Center.

Friends of VC Library

Mission is to support the library. They pay for all the children and adult programs like origami classes and all summer reading events. Cost is $5 is for a single membership $10 is double $20 is family. They meet the first Friday at 1 p.m. in the seminar room at the library and are looking for volunteers to work in the bookstore and for a secretary for the board.

Season starts after Little League and ends by Thanksgiving. Most teams are sponsored but those that aren’t will run a player about $75. They play two games a week, Monday-Thursday, at 6:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. They are always looking for new teams and players.

Miss VC Pageant

The mission of the Valley Center Pageant Assn. is to promote and produce a high quality scholarship pageant. Its specific purpose is to seek out a young woman in the community who is a role model, who is articulate, who can serve as an ambassador of Valley Center, who has a willingness to serve and the graciousness of a queen. The pageant is in March at the Maxine performing arts theatre, for girls ages 17-24.

A learning experience for the kids to understand football. Parents can help around the field to get involved. Fees are $105 for flag and $205 for tackle. Registration begins in April. The board meets the first Tuesday of each month in the teachers’ lounge at the lower elementary and is open for questions and comments.

Promenaders Square Dance Club

Dance every Thursday from 1-3 p.m. in the basement of VC Community Hall. There is $4 admission for each dance and there are usually 16-24 people. Loads of fun, good snacks and lots of fellowship.

Red Hat Society

Rotary International

Supports local students by providing dictionaries to third graders, honoring students of the month, supporting Grad Nite, the Jaguar Auction and providing scholarships. Meets Mondays at 12:10 p.m. at VC Community Center. Major fund-raisers include the Starless Night Raffle, Wine Tasting, ice cream socials at open houses and the Western Days Pancake Breakfast.

Society of St. Vincent de Paul

Provides relief to the hungry and needy in the community through the Pantry. A core group of 25 church members staff the pantry with five volunteers per Saturday. Every Saturday from 8:30-10:30 a.m. They distribute food to anyone in need in Valley Center and Pauma Valley. Meets the third Thursday at 7 p.m. at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church.

Men’s and Women’s leagues with 70 members total. Membership is $50. Men’s games are on Sundays and are USTA 3.5 and NCT BB. Women’s games run throughout the week and are USTA 3.5 and 4.0 and NCCA.

VC Art Association

Interested in all facets of art world. Some members are appreciators, a lot are professionals and some are Sunday painters. Meets the third Wednesday in members’ homes or the library. Members bring in artwork for critiques.

VCHS Foundation

Umbrella organization for high school for fund-raising. They put on the Jag auction, which services all groups. The foundation is created to support the extra curricular and core curriculum of school. Meetings are the second Monday at the high school administration building at 6 p.m.

VC Lacrosse Foundation

Supports the girls middle school lacrosse team, the first to represent Valley Center. Promotes the youth lacrosse athletic program and competitions in VC. Meetings are held throughout the year with objectives of maintaining open communication with parents, coaches, youth and sponsors, assisting in obtaining financial support and promoting lacrosse awareness.

Registration begins in December. The ages for Little League are 5-14. T-Ball is age 5-6 (hit off the "t" stick), Caps is age 7-8 (hit off the pitching machine). The Minors divisions are Minor A (competitive) and Minor B (instructional) and they are ages 9-12. The Majors division is ages 10-12. Juniors are ages 13-14. Games usually run until the end of May. At the end of May there is post-season play such as City Tournament, All Stars, etc.

Primarily a recreational league they also have a few competitive teams that travel around the county playing other clubs. They play on the school fields. Season begins Aug. 1 and ends the Saturday before Thanksgiving. All games are on Saturdays. Players are ages 4 to 16. There are eight different divisions including: PeeWees U5/U6 Coed; Div 6 U7/U8 Boys and Girls; Div 5 U9/U10 Boys and Girls; Div 4 U11/U12 Boys and Girls; Div 2/3 U13/U14/U15/U16 Coed

VC Women's Club

Open to any women 18 years or older. A member of the general federation of the women’s club—founded in the early 1900s, with 20 members currently. They meet once a month at the Valley Center Community Center. This club focuses on education and has fund-raisers for scholarships for VCHS seniors. They also try to raise scholarships for VC women continuing their education. Always looking for new members.
