VC track & field teams win eight individual Valley League titles

Last week, Valley Center’s varsity track and field teams played host to the five schools in the Valley League as the athletes competed in the Valley League prelims on Tuesday and finals on Friday.

The Jaguars earned eight individual league titles and 15 other medals in the action-packed league finals.

Savanna Reilly added more hardware to her ever-growing collection with two individual league championships for winning the shot put (35-feet-5) and the discus (115–3).

Kaylee Hudson set a new school record in winning the league title in the 1,600m (5:09.74), and she also took third in the 3,200m.

The boys 1,600m relay team of Bannon Greer, Anthony Ricks, Matt Mahoney and Michael McInerny set another school record in winning the league championship (3:24.35).

McInerny also earned an individual title in the 400m (50:03) and he finished third in the 200m.

Ricks won the title in the 200m (22.20) and also took second in the 100m, while Jorge Maldonado accomplished another one-two finish in winning the discus (137–6) and taking second in the shot put.

And Hannah Nealis won the title in the 100 high hurdles (16.01) and took fourth in the long jump.

Taking second place were Greer in the 800m (1:56.99), Halie Santana in the 200m (26.31), Clara Padinske in the high jump (4–7), Charlotte Connell in the long jump (16–7) and the 1,600m relay team of Hudson, Cummings, Spencer, and Santana (4:12.92)

The other medalists for the Jaguars were Santana in third in the 400m, Delaney Cummings in third in the 100 hurdles, Emily Sanders in third in the pole vault, Sophie Kraus in third in the triple jump, Ryan Olson in third in the pole vault, Olivia Spencer in fourth in the 400m, Helen Lopez in fourth in the 800m, Cummings in fourth in the 300 hurdles and Brett Henderson in fourth in the long jump.
