VCMWD given award for financial reporting for 21st time7

The Valley Center Municipal Water District’s finance department has received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association. (GFOA) for the district’s comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR) for the year ended June 30, 2012. This is the 21st time the district has gotten the award.

The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.

The CAFR has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the highest standards of the program including demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure’ to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the CAFR.

The GFOA is a nonprofit professional association serving about 17,500 government finance professionals with offices located in Chicago, Ill. and Washington, D.C.

VCMWD has received the award 21 consecutive years.
