Escondido Senior Anglers welcome guest speaker Charles Villafana to monthly meeting

The Escondido Senior Anglers will be meeting this Friday at 9:30 a.m. at the senior center located at 210 Park Ave. in Escondido.

This energetic, over-50 crowd of men and women participate in both fresh and saltwater fishing, youth trout and catfish derbies, various picnics, RV camp-outs and other community service events. Guests are always welcome.

The guest speaker for this monthís meeting will be Charles Villafana, Fisheries Biologist, NOAA-National Marine Fisheries Service. Villafana is the Southwest Regional Recreational Fisheries Coordinator. He plans to speak on overall marine sport fishing in southern California ocean waters, with a special emphasis on proper release techniques of under-sized and/or unwanted Rockfish. He will also discuss the current research showing the high survival rate of properly released Rockfish.

This promises to be a most interesting and informative program for all who attend.

The Senior Anglers of Escondido meet at 9:30 a.m. on the second Friday of every month (except December) at the Park Avenue Community Center

Monthly meetings enjoy a variety of presentations and demonstrations that will inspire, educate and entertain. All visitors are welcome, membership is for adults aged 50 and over that are interested in fresh or salt water fishing and the love of the outdoors.
