VCHS graduate Ian Schechter debuts “Collectr” clothing line in Las Vegas

August 28, 2013

Ian Schechter, a 2008 Valley Center High School graduate, has an eye on fashion, music and surf culture that has translated into an exciting new venture.

With the vision of mixing art with fashion, Schechter formed the artist-promoting apparel company Global.U, Inc. The company grew quickly, with merchandise featured in surf shops throughout Southern California and his website featured 20 artists from around the world. As artists were added, artistic themes became apparent and in 2013, Global-U, Inc launched their “Collectr” brand, with a focus on the Surf lifestyle.

Collectr debuted its spring /summer 2014 California Lifestyle at Project during Magic Market Week in Las Vegas.

“Connecting people through our collection of artists, surfers, musicians, and friends. That’s what Collectr is all about,” says Schechter. “The end product is a naturally inspired clothing brand, Collectr.”

The collection includes men’s and women’s tees, knit wears, dresses and hoodies for the active lifestyle and casual wear.

“Our goal is to use high-quality material along with prints from various artists from around the world,” Schechter says. “Our spring /summer 2014 collection uses twelve artists from the United States, Uruguay and Australia. We have also collaborated with First Floor Surfboards for a t-shirt design. Our attendance at Project is an opportunity for us to network and collaborate with other great companies and seek other ways to expand our concept.”
