VC cross-country teams finish in top five in Bronco Invite

The Valley Center cross-country teams traveled to Kit Carson Park on Saturday to compete in the Bronco Invite, and the Jaguars brought home a pair of top-five finishes.

The Lady Jaguars ran well behind top finisher Helen Lopez, who placed tenth with a time of 12:48 on the two-mile course. Behind Lopez, April Lackpour was 14th in 13:02, Danielle Pettit was 21st in 13:23, and Riley McCarrick was 24th in 13:36.

For the Jaguars, Bannon Greer had the best Valley Center individual finish in second place in 9:59, while Fernando Ramirez was 18th in 10:39, and Nick Mendoza was 26th in 10:47.

In the girls JV frosh/sophomore race, Reese Henderson raced well placing 18th in 12:45, and for the boys, Daniel Zorrilla had the top Jag time, finishing 9th with a time of 10:22. Charles Morningstar placed 17th in the boys JV junior/senior race with a time of 10:42

The girls varsity team had 96 points to finish in fourth place, while the boys varsity team took fifth with 137.
