The Valley Center/Pauma Music Boosters will host a free Christmas Concert for the community on Monday, Dec. 16 at the Maxine Theater beginning at 6:30 p.m. The lobby will open at 5:30 p.m. with entertainment, refreshments and light dinner items available for purchase.

The theater, located at Valley Center High School (VCHS), will be filled with the upbeat songs of the holiday season with performances by the award-winning Valley Center Middle School and Valley Center High School choirs, and high school band. The celebrated Trombone Choir will also perform a holiday classic. This is a first-time event, inspired by the success of the recent 10th annual free Veteran’s Day Concert, which had a full house.

"We had such great community support and turnout with the free Veteran’s Day concert that we wanted to keep the momentum going and give the performers a great audience to share the holiday spirit with,” said Diane Conaway, president of the Valley Center/Pauma Music Boosters. “This promises to be yet another quality performance with some great surprises from Valley Center’s talented youth.”

The VCHS Marching Band will be performing along with hundreds of performers from the Middle School Chorus and the Valley Center High School Choir, Concert Band, and Jazz Band.

“This is our gift to the community,” said Conaway. “We are anticipating a full house and hope it will also become an annual tradition in Valley Center.” The event is sponsored in part by Left Coast Engineering and RE/MAX United.

The award-winning VCHS Marching Band and Color Guard will be showcased during a performance at Disneyland on Dec. 9, as part of the popular theme park’s Community Arts Showcase Program. The students have been working to raise $3,000 to offset the cost of the bus expense and donations are appreciated at PO Box 841, Valley Center, CA 92082.

The Valley Center/Pauma Music Boosters is a nonprofit organization designed to support music in our Valley Center Schools. Their funds purchase and maintain hundreds of instruments and performance attire for more than 700 5th to 12th graders. The Boosters also provide the funds necessary for the students to participate in competitions.

The Booster's annual goal is nearly $60,000 to cover expenses of these regularly funded programs, but they have so many more ideas to grow the music program and expose the students to more events. They are currently challenging our Valley Center Community to raise $100,000 this school year.
