Valley Center Middle School (VCMS) today announced plans for the spring musical with show auditions for The Wizard of Oz taking place on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, Dec. 16, 17, and 18 from 3-5 p.m..

Auditions will be held at VCMS at the Multi-Purpose Room and are open to all Valley Center Middle School students. Because it is such a popular story, the show is expected to have a large cast. Cost to be in the show is just $8 for the script. This marks the school’s 18th consecutive annual Spring musical. Show dates are slated for mid-March. Rehearsal commitments are typically Tuesday and Thursday after school until 5 p.m. and Saturdays, 9 a.m. until 3 p.m..

The show has all-star leadership with Rich Horne as producer, Toni Montross as director, Valerie Nichols as choreographer, and Mrs. Laralee Beck as musical director.

On behalf of the show and drama program, the Valley Center Middle School Drama Boosters is also requesting donations of raffle prizes for fundraising; and scholarship prizes such a dance, acting or voice lessons with recipients selected from the cast via an essay application. The group is also requesting plans from area businesses regarding their advertising and support by choosing an ad within the show program. The Spring Musical is a self-funded, after-school event each year so efforts at raising money this year will seed the following year’s musical. Volunteers with a time, treasure or talent to share are always welcome.
