Its never easy to win a game away from the friendly confines of the home field, but the Valley Center High School (VCHS) varsity girls soccer team has found a way to bring home back-to-back wins to start the season.

The Lady Jaguars opened the year at El Capitan on Dec. 2 and broke through for a big second half to take a 30 win.

The game was scoreless at halftime, but the Lady Jags wore down the defense and put the game out of reach with three key goals in the second half.

Victoria Lawrence, Samantha Pratt and Savanna Reilly scored the goals for VC, on assists from Kiana Diefenbach and Raquel Cifuentes. Sophomore keeper Nicole Venisse made seven saves in goal to get her first shutout of the season.

Then last Wednesday, the Lady Jags traveled to Fallbrook and outlasted the Lady Warriors in a 21 win.

Valley Center scored first and held a one-goal lead at the break, and even though Fallbrook scored in the second half, the Lady Jaguars matched that with another goal to get the win.

Lawrence and Madison Sanders came through with the goals, while Cifuentes, Helen Lopez, Brienna Dunckel and Emily Venisse each had an assist. Nicole Venisse was outstanding again, making six saves in goal to get the win.

The Lady Jags have already begun the pool play portion of the Barons Tournament, which concludes this week. After that, they host San Marcos on Dec. 19 at 5:15 p.m.
