Valley Center’s varsity girls basketball team put together a pair of consecutive wins last week, but the Lady Jaguars have now lost three in a row after two more losses this week.

The Lady Jags hosted Del Norte on Wednesday and despite hanging tough in the first quarter, they were handed a 47–24 loss.

Both teams played well early on in a close game, as Del Norte led 13–10 through the first quarter.

But Valley Center couldn’t keep pace on offense, as the Lady Nighthawks outscored the home team 12–5 in the second quarter to take a ten-point lead, 25–15, at the half.

Things got worse for the Lady Jags in the third quarter, as Del Norte lit up the scoreboard with 20 points, while holding Valley Center to just four, to take a 45–19 lead through three periods. The Lady Nighthawks only scored two more points in the game, but Valley Center could only put up five more points in the fourth as Del Norte sealed the big win.

And on Friday, the Lady Jaguars traveled to Ramona and played better on offense, but still came away with a 73–42 loss.

The Lady Jags have two more games remaining in the regular season. They have already hosted Mission Vista on Wednesday and they conclude the season at Orange Glen on Friday at 5:30 p.m.
