VC track & field top-ten finishes

The Valley Center track and field team joined 33 other schools in the Mt. Carmel Field & Distance Invite on Saturday and brought home seven individual top-ten finishes.

Savanna Reilly was the top finisher when she took second place in the discus (111–2) and she added a third-place finish in the shot put (34–2.5) as well.

Bannon Greer finished third in the 800m (1:57.51), while Bailey Sanders took fifth in the discus (97–11) and sixth in the shot put (31–10), Austin Paredes was eighth in the discus (118–8) and Clara Padinske was eighth in the high jump (4–8) and also finished 12th in the triple jump (30–9.75).

On Thursday, the Jaguars hosted Mt. Carmel for a dual meet and finished with a host of top-three performances.

The Jags posted 12 individual wins, as Quentin Ferrez won the 100m (11.72), Sam McCuskey won the 800m (2:14.75), Greer won the 1600m (4:41.91), Paredes won the discus (120–11) and the 1600m relay team took first (3:40.26).

For the Lady Jaguars, Reilly was a double-winner by taking the shot put (33–0) and the discus (115–5), while Hannah Nealis was also a double-winner in the 100m hurdles (17.54) and the long jump (16–8). Taking individual wins were Riley McCarrick in the 1600m (5:55.17), Delaney Cummings in the 300m hurdles (51.52) and Padinske in the high jump (4–6).

Finishing second were Rod Rodriguez in the 1600m (4:43.43), Jacob Cunningham in the triple jump (38–10), Padinske in the 100m (14.52), Helen Lopez in the 800m (2:37.46), Cummings in the 100m hurdles (17.72), Savanna Fiehler in the 300m hurdles (52.36) and Bailey Sanders in both the shot put (30–2) and the discus (90–6).

And in third place were Paredes in the shot put (40–11), Erik Rangel in the discus (112–0), Ferrez in the triple jump (37–7.5), Hailie Santana in the 200m (27.86), Danielle Pettit in the 300m hurdles (52.68) and Cheyanna Phelps in the shot put (29–10).
