Valley Center’s varsity boys tennis team had a pair of matches last week, but couldn’t find a way to pick up a victory in either one.

The Jaguars played at San Marcos last Tuesday and suffered a 16–2 loss.

Joe Stehly picked up both of Valley Center’s points with a pair of wins in first singles (0–6, 7–5, 6–3), while Billy Mayer played second singles (1–6, 4–6, 4–6) and the team defaulted third singles.

Brian Morningstar and Jonathan Glassell teamed up to play first doubles (0–6, 4–6, 0–6), while Tyus Ashworth and Michael Carvajal played second doubles (1–6, 1–6, 0–6) and Trevor Gurski and Alex Nichols played third doubles (0–6, 1–6, 0–6).

The Jags returned home on Thursday to host Ramona, but once again struggled to pick up points and lost, 15–3.

Stehly won once in first singles (0–6, 2–6, 6–0), while Mayer played second singles (0–6, 0–6, 6–7 [4–7]) and Ashworth played third singles (0–6, 1–6, 3–6).

Carvajal and Francisco Ramirez picked up a win in first doubles (1–6, 4–6, 6–3), while Morningstar and Glassell also earned a win in second doubles (1–6, 6–3, 2–6) and Gurski and Michael Stine played third doubles (0–6, 0–6, 0–6).

The Jaguars played at Orange Glen on Tuesday and they return home to face Del Norte on Thursday. Both matches are scheduled for 3:15 p.m.
