Marshall, Paiz lead Jaguars in swim meet against Escondido

The Valley Center varsity swim team hosted its first home meet last Thursday, as the Jaguars welcomed Escondido to Adams Park and came away with a win for the boys varsity team.

The Jags downed the Cougars 8562 behind eight individual wins, while the girls varsity team fought hard for three wins, despite being outnumbered, in a 10550 loss.

Luke Marshall led the Jaguars with a double win, while also taking part in a relay win. He took first in the 100 butterfly (1:07.47) and the 100 breaststroke (1:24.51) while joining with Elijah McClure, Eli Ball and Trevor Ryan to win the 400 freestyle relay (4:39.60).

McClure also won the 200 individual medley (2:52.01) and the 100 freestyle (1:08.88), while Nate Leader won the 500 freestyle (5:59.57) and joined David Trok, Major Wynn and Ball to win the 200 medley relay (2:16.09), and Ball won the 50 freestyle (28.82).

For the Lady Jaguars, Kenya Paiz won the 200 individual medley (2:40.45) and the 100 backstroke (1:14.91) and also joined Casia Morrison, Becca Vizcarra and Sam Gonzalez to win the 200 medley relay (2:26.37).

The Jaguars already swam at San Pasqual on Tuesday and hit the pool again Thursday at Ramona before returning home to face Classical Academy next Thursday at 3:30 p.m.
