Vaqueros hosting 50th annual Old Timerís Show

May 08, 2014

The Valley Center Vaqueros will once again call on all trail riders, horse lovers, and members 29 and over to participate in the 50th annual Old Timers Show on May 17 at the VCV Equestrian Park on the corner of Lilac and Valley Center Roads.

Because of insurance coverage, the Vaqueros hold all of their shows for members only. However, if youíre not a member, no problem! Day memberships are available for $5 plus a $10 grounds fee. Should you find yourself having fun, that day membership can be applied to full membership that day.

The Young Riders will be staffing the various jobs along with their adult mentors. Show chair ladies, Deb Duncan & Del Smith, have picked 10 classes which will have something for everyone, including halter class, showmanship, trotting race, musical hats (using ball caps), and egg race while riding your horse.

During the lunch break, the new Vaqueros Drille Posse will perform in the arena.

Afternoon classes will be offered for $5 each or $40 for the day. Traditional Old Timers trophies and a gift certificate provided by sponsors will be given with a blue ribbon for first place winners. Second through fifth will receive ribbons. Special trophies will be given to the oldest cowgirl and the oldest cowboy. An award is even waiting for the oldest horse. However, there are strings attached to these. To qualify as the oldest rider, he/she must enter in Class 10 and one other class. The oldest horse must be entered in one class.
