COVID-19 becomes priority for Waldron’s office

The activities of the staff at Assemblywoman Marie Waldron’s office have shifted into high gear answering constituent calls that are often related to the coronavirus crisis.

Mrs. Waldron, who is the Republican leader in Assembly in Sacramento, maintains a district office in Escondido. She reports that over the last two weeks, most of the inquiries from constituents “have been EDD-related, including numerous calls involving filing problems and whether or not coverage for independent contractors and the self-employed is now available.”

Small  business owners have been calling for information about help available to keep them afloat and workers employed while they are temporarily shut down or open with reduced hours. “Landlord-tenant issues involving evictions and rent payments, property tax extension and late penalties have also generated numerous calls,” she said.

The types of calls have changed over the weeks as the situation has evolved. “We’re no longer getting questions about what is considered an essential business or what to do about DMV appointments or expiring driver’s licenses or tags,” she said.

The fallout from the COVID-19 pandemic and the national response has generated so many questions and concerns from constituents that Waldron’s office has uploaded a comprehensive list of resources to her website: Ad75.asmrc.org

“And yes,” she told the newspaper, “we are still getting the usual casework calls about normal state-related problems, but they are few and far between. As might be expected, the Coronavirus situation has become a top priority for almost everyone.”

Now due to not being allowed to certify, due to system errors I am not receiving any of my Unemployment Benefits that are due to me. I have made over 100 calls and no response, Keeps directing to websites and looping back to registration. I need to talk to someone to get help…I have been employed through CDS, at Costco as a demo person and we were let go because of virus, I really need help, I am hoping my years of support as a constituent will honor my request.
